We directed the artwork for the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo PREMIER, which is located on Sanjo-Dori that is cherished by people as it’s in the central street of Kyoto. The concept for the artwork includes the elements of Kyo-Machi-ya (Traditional Kyoto styled housing which was built before 1950) and is based on the concept of “Omote (at the front),” where one encounters Sanjo Dori, and “Oku (at the back),” where one resides. Moreover, we provided the gentle changing of the shape or the material changes. This artwork describes the tradition and the innovation of the old city Kyoto.
