Opened in May 2025, PATINA OSAKA—Capella Hotel Group’s inaugural property in Japan—is a luxury establishment that honors the region’s historical roots. Drawing inspiration from the adjacent Naniwa Palace site and nearby Osaka Castle, both often referred to as the “Memory of the Land,” the hotel embodies this cultural legacy through thoughtful design and art.
Each floor’s interior design features a harmonious blend of materials such as wood, water, stone, and copper, reflecting the essence of place. Curated artworks throughout the property are organized around three core principles: “The Individual (energy, power, permanence),” “The Art of ‘Mitate’ (Japanese abstraction and reinterpretation),” and “Local Production (regional materials and artisan craftsmanship).”
Traditional pottery and ancient washi paper with over a thousand years of history carry forward Osaka’s rich cultural heritage, while works created from recycled materials offer guests a meaningful experience that connects the city’s vibrant past with a sustainable future.
